Probably not, I'm bad enough as it is after sex with convincing myself I've caught every disease to ever exist (I'm actually just out of a two week period where I convinced myself I had HIV. Apparently HIV and anxiety have some similarities in symptoms, who'da thunk it. ), I could never be with someone where I'd have that fear after every time. Sorry to anyone who has it.

You can also contract HIV by being infected with HIV + blood. And why do you assume that anyone who has it caught it because they were irresponsible? So if someone had an unfaithful partner who brought home the disease and passed it on to them, it's their fault? If someone was raped by an HIV+ person, it's because they were careless? You don't know how everyone with HIV got to be in their current state, so it's completely ignorant of you to assume that they don't care about their bodies.

If you legitimately care for someone and want to be with them, their HIV status should not ever get in the way. Practice safe sex or just don't have it if you're not someone who really needs it; there's not really any reason it should be so much of a concern with modern medicine and knowledge so as to make you reject or break up with someone upon finding out they have it. I'm HIV negative and I'd gladly date a person I'm interested in regardless of their own status, as long as both of us had enough sense to be safe and careful.

I know you can do it with contact with blood and an unfaithful partner, BUT statistics show that, again, the majority get it from unprotected sex. Do you really think that the number of rapes that result in HIV being transmitted is even comparable with the number of unprotected intercourses that cause HIV?

For those who are saying "It doesn't change the person you are", I don't think most of the people voting "No" were implying that it does.

In the past few decades, sex has really been devalued due as a product of the Sexual Revolution, but at the root of it's nature and purpose, sex is a bond, especially for those who save themselves for one person. It's kinda like the glue that keeps a relationship strong and vibrant because it's as intimate as you can get with someone; you're essentially opening yourself up to your partner and giving away a piece of yourself every time.

I'm not saying a relationship can't work without sex, but I'm just trying to put into perspective how it could be complicated to connect with someone on that level of intimacy while being paranoid about catching the virus. Hence, I wouldn't want to marry someone with HIV+.

It depends. If I knew that they had HIV from the start, I would probably lose interest. I'm really worried about that, so it's not really worth the risk if you're getting into a new relationship with someone you barely know. But if it was somebody that I had strong feelings for (before we had sex, of course), I would consider it.
