I have an opportunity to see some parts of the story from the inside. The law (so-called antigay law) was firstly an initiative of one unadequate (and oh, religious) person in State Duma - Vitaliy Milonov. Others in government found nothing against the law. Why? I should point, the law is initially aimed at the "gay propaganda among kids"... It is not about "gays are evil, there must be no gays", but smth like "you can be gay if you want to, but don't speak it out where children (who aren't able to make up their mind adequately) may hear and think they should be gays, cuz it's cool"... That's very strange, though. Neither me, nor other people understand why the **** Milonov even started the topic - nobody cared before, like... what's wrong with gays? That's not his only initiative... Milonov is like a clown to the great number of Russians. And I'm personally really ashamed of such morons - see, they're blackening the image of the whole country. You can say, what about the whole government? Why do they do this? Firstly, many of middle-aged people (I bet not only Russians) don't support gays. What's more, politicians in Duma need to build an image of hard-working people... That doesn't help them to gain much respect from people. Political jokes are widely spread here, just like in place you live... if not more.
I'm sure there are people who don't like gays, don't support them and even tell this out when they're asked during public opinion poll. I'm sure, that's normal for every place, every country. But if parents want to "protect" their children, they do what they want individually. That's why I am absolutely against this law and a series of laws aimed to "protect kids" (and most of my friends do).
That's how everything started, but, as it always happens, here came plenty of moralfags, religious grannies, people who didn't mind before but for now they've woke up somehow. And you also see agressive, low-minded, simply evil people (like Tesak) who just need to beat, cut out somebody who's different, who is called a victim, who is under public attention - anyone, anywhere. They killed Uzbeks, Tajiks and other national minorities, before everyone started talking about gays. Now they brought up an idea of getting rid of gays. Such people are crime. And, of course, they DON'T reflect Russians' mind. An idiot started the whole thing, some criminals try to show off now... That's awful, but nobody can instantly do something against people who understand a fist only. So, calling whe whole country, Russians in general "crime" etc, etc... it's really offensive to me. We are people just like you.
