Who the **** cares if she caused a 'backlash'? All the backlash came from people like you who can't freaking accept an artist has the freedom to experiment as much as they can and people who are think they're 'too cool" for Pop/Dance music.
Some people may have hated Starships, but there are ALSO some people that loved Starships. Nicki ACKNOWLEDGES that and she LOVES the song too.
Just because you and I have different opinion doesn't make one of us is better than the other, the matter is SUBJECTIVE.
And so what if I put my name as "Starships"? It's not okay to name your username after a song? I'm not ashamed of myself LOVING the song. Who the hell cares what people say? I love my fave and all the work she does. Whether people like it or not, and I'm not ashamed of that.
