I would say no, using social networking as a platform to promote your product to the entire world with the click of a button is just the smart thing to do. But it is ironic that usually Gaga fans were the first to call an artist thirsty or desperate just for tweeting an iTunes link.
Just because she's a pop artist doesn't mean she's not thirsty for chart success, plenty of artist just release singles without even batting an eye lash or bothering to care how the song is doing
She sounds like she's huddled in front of her laptop refreshing iTunes and YouTube.
