Hi Bill.
I didn't actually expect you to register, but it's nice to see that you're a man of your word.

Anyway...
Even though PSY did smash, he wasn't taken too seriously and quickly fell into the role of a one hit wonder (not domestically, but in the US).
My question: do you think America is ready for a K-pop group to breakthrough with English material?
I mainly ask this because 2NE1's preparing an English album.
I'm not sure myself, but I'd love to hear your opinion on this.
America definitely ready for another k-pop smash and even sustained careers. It'll take great songs and the right look. But so many fresh styles and sounds brewing in seoul now. It'll happen. Only a matter of time.
Bill, I could be wrong, but I remember you saying that you personally thought that Lady Gaga's album, 'Born This Way,' which was sold at 99 cents on Amazon should not have counted on the charts, was she the main reason why the pricing rule was implemented and why wasn't it done right away like Billboard did with the Britney Spears/Eagles rule change?
It won't count. If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry. If it was a question in your mind, now you know. So disappointing.
With regards to your tweet and asumming it has to do with streaming, how regulated are views incorporated into the streaming component of the Hot 100? Can someone hypothetically "max out" a certain number of views on an I.P address or could I leave on a YT video/Spotify stream continuously and have each "play" contribute to the chart in a given week?
Do you think that, in terms of chart domination and success compared to her peers at the time, 21 is the biggest 'era' of all time on a global scale (excluding any touring)?
If you look at

I'm pretty sure it would be Taylor.
I did this a few weeks ago, Gaga and Taylor are pretty much tied for now with Rihanna in 3rd and no one else really close to those three (among female artists).
I have a question regarding the charts. Now a days is common that fans gift other fans a song of their fave on iTunes. My question is, does every gifted song count as a sale to the song for charting purpose?
I would like to know what this is about. Does it have to do with Gaga tweeting a link to her music video? Or are we overreacting?
Billboard should be clear about how it can tell the difference between me sitting in front of my computer and mashing the replay button because I love the video, and what it considers "shady" tactics that are disallowed.
Do you know why Radio didn't give a chance to Nelly Furtado's Big Hoops? Can she make a comeback? And what kind of music should she make to have success?
I love that Pink manages to be subversive and a little punk rock in the context of the pop form. She continues to be successful because she's a strong writer, she has been honest with her fans through good time and bad, and she brings an artistic conviction not a lot of other pop stars can match. She's brave in a way that isn't shtick or manufactured controversy. It was brave to perform that dance routine for Try - brave and beautiful. It was brave to spin suspended 50 feet in the air above the grammys - and it was completely awesome that she dripped water all over the suits below.
Any way. I could go on. I just think she keeps it a little realer than most in a world and age that needs more real.
Great answer!
There has been a lot of debate (and many meltdowns) over this: do you think Lady Gaga's brand has been damaged/destroyed as a result of her insistence to work with untested producers like DJ Whiteshadow instead of hitmakers like her peers do, to write her own (often odd/clunky) lyrics instead of using big songwriters like her peers, to pick themes that aren't relatable, to direct her own music videos or use fashion designers as directors, to not do collabs, to have an aesthetic that's polarizing, not very Pop friendly and (for lack of a better word) ugly?

Favorite artists?
Presently faves include Janelle Monae, P!nk, Katy Peer, Lady Gaga, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Frank Ccean, Miguel, Drake, Kanye West, Ed Sheeran. All-time faves tend toward the classics: Ramones, Velvet Underground, Johnny Cash, Beatles, NWA.

Bill, what do you think about the lawsuit filed by Robin Thicke, Pharrell and TI preemptively suing Marvin Gaye's family after they allegedly threatened them with legal action over Blurred Lines sounding like Got To Give Up?
To the untrained ear, it sounds like they sampled Got To Give It Up, but, my DJ cousin broke it down to me why it's not a sample. It really seems to me as if they purposely crafted the track to sound just like Got To Give It Up, but, changed just enough to absolve them of any legal responsibility to the original composer.
I love BL, but, I have to kind of side-eye Robin and Pharrell in this situation. I have no doubt things like this happen all of the time in the music business, but, what do you think of this from an ethical stand point even though it may not be operating outside of the boundaries of the law?
