I'm starting college this next week and I'm debating if I should get a laptop or a tablet. I'm wondering what y'all use and what the best possible laptops/tablets are for classes that are more science and math related? I'm leaning towards getting a samsung galaxy note 10.1.

Also, how are e-books compared to regular textbook prices? I know with a physical textbook you can sell them back whereas you can't with e-books. Is it worth getting e-book versions?

Laptops are infinitely more suited to regular use in an educational environment. Tablets aren't very practical if you're planning on writing and editing documents/assignments on a regular basis.

Well in terms of writing a laptop would be a lot more comfortable but if it's for reading I would go for the tablet! E-books are the bomb.com IMO.

A tablet would be ok if you wanted something just for taking notes, but for anything else you should really get a laptop.

Laptops for sure. They are going to have to type stuff and touch screen typing for long is way too annoying.

Very true. The big problem I have with tablets is there isn't microsoft word, excel and powerpoint. But there are some keyboard add-ons available for tablets. I was thinking maybe doing the basic writing on a tablet and then transferring my work to my pc at home or school to do the full editing with word.

I believe there are for the Apple tablets!

Definitely Laptop. I only use my iPad for very quick notes or something like that.

There is nothing you can do on a tablet productivity wise that couldn't be done better on a touch screen laptop.

You'd get laughed at bringing a tablet to college lol. You can't get MS Office on a tablet besides the ones with Windows 8 which isn't good anyway.

Tablet is not really suited for school. Just get a laptop.
