It's true that Madonna endured her 1st flop album but one bad era didn't ruin her credibility. I'm glad that you are smart enough to see that Madonna did use Britney for shock value and open her audience to a younger crowed. I remember when Britne ywas constantly praising Janet and Madonna and it resulted in increased sales of their GH over time.
Still, people did not feel as though Britney was worthy of collabing with Madonna as many still felt like she hadn't stood the test of time. I remember vividly but what you are saying is accurate. They did say she was a copycat which made no sense since she, like Usher, were the best at showing their influence while still doing it their way as opposed to Gaga, Beyonce, Chris Brown etc.
Whether you think someone has a spark is your opinion. I personally see that certain something in Miley that separates her from the other non descripts much like Britney with those non descript blonde girls. Again, to use your point against you. Miley's current song is doing miles better than her last single and her songs from her last era sans Till the world ends. Also, no matter how hard Britney tries she'll never be Madonna so what's the point in that.

Britney did. Britney helped Madonna gain a younger audience and Madonna gave her credibility during a time where she was ridding herself of her teen pop image.
