Well my relationship with my dad's side of the family has always been kind of forced. So I was going over to see his mom because it's her birthday and because I'm leaving to go to Atlanta tomorrow. I bought her a Pandora bracelet and some flowers. I have no ill will towards her even though she slightly started to disown me when I confessed what my father had did to me... I looked at as a lot of mothers would do that when having to defend their child against such harsh accusations.

SO, I give her her gifts and we start talking and she proceeds to say "You need to go see your dad. You're wrong." I just blew it off and said no I don't and when I said that she was like "You should be ashamed of yourself for degrading your father like that. You know he didn't do all of those things to you and the only reason you're saying that is for attention". Next thing I know I'm calling a 78 yr. old woman a bitch.

i'm so sorry to hear that, kay bee. i've heard of situations like that occurring. i definitely think that your grandmother is in a position in which she doesn't know what to think - as you mentioned - but taking that confusion so far as to call you a liar and argue that you're seeking attention is insensitive and hurtful. you have every right to be angry, but know at the end of the day that she's wrong and that you are not to blame for her lack of understanding. the impact that this is having on your relationship is saddening but if she's not going to be empathetic in regards to all the turmoil that you've had to face at her son's hands, then that's her own personal issue and you do not deserve to be chained by that and suffer any further as a result.
