He's not wrapped up in it. He just backed himself into a box, which was perpetuated by his stans.
Yes, the Hive loves to brag about Bernard his image (especially when fighting the Navy); however, it also comes with a downside. If another artist had release Bow Down/I Been On/Whatever, it would have not been scrutinized for its lyrical content.
He can't leave his box for a second without the media jumping all over him. That's the price you pay!
