Danish pop band Aqua who topped the charts with the hit Barbie Girl 10 years ago on Friday said they have reunited and plan a tour next year. At a news conference Rene Dif, Claus Norreen and married couple Soren and Lene Nystrom Rasted told reporters they also planned to release a collection of their greatest hits.
The album would also include some songs that have not been released before, the band said, adding that the tour would likely focus on Denmark.
Their debut album Aquarium scored success in several countries and in 2000 they released the follow-up Aquarius. With sales of some 30 million albums, Aqua ranks as one of Denmark's best-selling bands ever.
The four members founded the band in 1995 and performed as a set until July 2001. Both Rene Dif and Norwegian-born Lene Nystrom Rasted later tried to launch solo careers.
