Tegan and Sara stopped by the Horseshack Recording Studio today to record a new session for Daytrotter.com. The duo was already featured on the website with a session in 2010, which saw high acclaim from critics and lots of praise from their fans. No wonder they were happy to be back with some songs from their new album, Shipwrecked.
“Daytrotter was a really fun experience for us. We loved hanging out here, everyone was really nice and relaxed, yet they still did great work with our recordings. Their production is amazing, the songs sound very clear, and they balance the instruments and vocals just right, it really makes the melodies and vocal harmonies stand out more than usual”, Tegan explained their love for Daytrotter.
Tegan and Sara played a four song set, and here's what they had to say about every song.
I'm Not Your Hero – "We recently reworked the acoustic version of this song, our guitar player Ted worked out some additional guitar lines to it and it makes the song sound even bigger. That's why we were eager to play this one, as well as the fact that it always got a bit neglected during the last era. 'I Was A Fool' and 'Closer' were our big hits that we always ended up playing, but this song deserves attention, too!"
Youth – "Our lead single for the new album. We've been doing a lot of promo for it, playing it at radio stations and on TV, and I was scared we'd be sick of it by now but it's actually more like the opposite. I love playing it, it has such a special, almost magical energy to it because it's neither happy nor sad. I can't wait to play this live every night when our tour starts, it's gonna be amazing to see the crowd react to it."
Heart Waster – "This is also a new song, a potential candidate for the second single. It's probably the song that's most reminiscent of our last album because it's very upbeat and dancey. It's built on a synth hook and that makes it challenging to perform acoustically, but it's also fun to play around with it and try to maintain the original vibe in a more stripped down version."
Monday Monday Monday – "This is a very old song that we don't play very often anymore, but fans still ask us about it a lot and we thought this would be a nice opportunity to play it again. It's actually quite refreshing to go back to these songs after not having performed them for a while, it's almost like you forget they exist but then you play them again and you still connect with them the same way you did ten years ago when you wrote them."

Willow has announced that the second single from her album Aurora is going to be "Hot Streak" which features label-mate Ke$ha on the track. Being that the original is over 5 minutes long, a radio edit version has been made the single.
The radio edit has Willow on the first verse, Ke$ha on the second verse, a back-and-forth rap duet in the bridge, and a sung chorus that features both of them.
Willow is rumored to be singing this song at Katy's upcoming event.

Tegan and Sara visited Late Night with Jimmy Fallon today for a performance of their single 'Youth'.
Confident as always, they performed the song with the right amount of emotion and energy to perfectly translate its melancholy vibe to the audience, who started nodding along to the catchy melody almost immediately. Supported by their backing band, the twins both had their hands free and could show off some more of their infamous dance moves, providing numerous gif-able moments for their fanbase on Tumblr.
Aided by an impressive light show, it was a respectable performance that reminded us once again why we can't get enough of this song as well as Tegan and Sara in general.
Tegan and Sara have announced that their single 'Youth' is iTunes free single of the week.
It is featured on the front page of the iTunes store with a banner under the category 'single of the week' and available to download for free until midnight Friday, August 16.
The band took to Twitter to inform their fans about the deal and encourage them to spread the word.
