I myself found it weird the first time, but if you think of it, it's actually a good method. Those high chart toppers, hot ringtones, and most popular artists will now have a chance to debut as well, whereas otherwise they would never be voted in. Take Timbaland's hit song The Way I Are, for example. It peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, but never debuted on TRL until this method was introduced.
Also, finally, it's an end to those sucking artists like Ashley Tisdale, The Academy Is... or Paramore, who were only chart-toppers on TRL(no idea why), who are nowhere on the charts. They won't make the countdown so boooring(I remember how Boys Like Girls ruined the whole show, spending 40 days on the countdown, I always turned off the TV when they were number 1).
it's a pity that those bastards at MTV Hugngary are not airing TRL anymore ROHADÉKOK!
^you think its a good method because your hiphop jammies will top the charts
I wasn't saying that. It's just that we should also give a chance to any record or artist that does good on the charts. I don't care if it's pop, hip hop, rock, or heavy metal or whatever.

Allow me to respond by first quoting someone else. I'm not sure who said it but whoever it was is right. This person stated "If I wanted a countdown based on charts and other stuff, I'll ask Billboard." TRL is supossed to be different. It is supossed to be solely based on votes which leads to other songs getting promoted which is a good thing. You should know that there are good artists outside the top 40.
^i agree TRL is really different!!! i dont know why do they want to be like other charts...they should be happy and content that they are already unique!
TRL should let aside billboards/ringtons/download charts, because TRL is a different category...
