Brothren, it's Britney. Releasing a single raises enough awareness about a forthcoming project. I believe the rumored September 16/17th single release. It'll follow the pattern of "Womanizer"/"3" mid-September releases.
October 15th for the album is just 4 weeks later. They'll hit us with the music video, some impacting promotion and of course the single will be hot on the iTunes and radio, she'll pull in the numbers. Plus they'll give us 2 months of the 4th quarter to take in the high volume of sales, guaranteeing platinum sales before 2014.
If anything the compact time frame will aid 1st week sales, seeing as the Femme Fatale era suffered from the 2 month period, late music video, no promotional appearances and all the hype died off. If its true of 10.15.13, RCA obviously will have a lot of things planned in those 30 days prior to the album's release.
It'll also be good avoiding the leak.
Madonna always releases her lead single, then the parent album a month later. Event artists can do this.
Meanwhile
ARTPOP is already losing all of its pre-orders and the bitch still has 3 months to go, mess.
If it's true, it's probably because Vegas will begin on New Year's as rumored and she'll have November/December to focus on the show details, rehearsals, etc.
