Can 'Applause' rise?
Can Lady Gaga's new single follow the trajectory of Bad Romance and previous pre-album singles that were flopping before promo + a music video.
Upcoming promo:
1. GMA and video release on 8/19
2. Officially sent to radio on 8/20 (Interscope fact sheet sent out this morning)
3. VMAs sunday

It can have longevity, but I don't see it becoming as big as her previous leads. It is her worst lead single by far but then again mediocre songs smash all the time so.

the difference between applause and bad romance is the quality.
but she can rise. let's not forget she is the #1 priority for interscope.

I think the VMA performance is going to help it a bit
but at this point I'm anxious to see if the 2nd single will blow applause out of the water like poker face did to just dance
