No. It's all about the starting point.
Christina came off of not a single Top 5 single for 6-8 years running.
Lady Gaga is coming off of an album where her debut single shot to #1 in every country and outsold the previous record holder, Ms. Britney Spears, by a wide margin in HALF the time.
The media isn't going to worry about what Christina's positions were. When they smell failure or underperformance, they will pounce. And people will gobble it up. They love trainwrecks.
