And further evidence emerges that the public remembers Dirrty far more than Slave from a few days ago:
And another from last week - because clearly, it's totally forgotten:
Vh1 Stripper Songs: Pussycat Dolls vs Christina Aguilera
So multiple news sources, Snooki, VH1 Stripper Song competition &
VH1's Most Scandalous Sexy Music videos list have all shouted out to Dirrty in the past week. Dirrty invented/popularized a dance move called the ****drop. Dirrty became a colloquial word used to describe something "grimey/extremely ****ty". It's also synonymous with transitioning between innocent and ****ty, (according to mainstream media - no one is saying "x person has gone slave 4 u!" they're saying "x person has gone dirrty" and it's not the first time).
Slave 4 U was sexy as f*ck but not scandalous, and scandal tends to remain in people's minds longer.
I suspect Slave 4 U's viewcount is so high because it's such jerkable material compared to Dirrty - it's just a way more sensual, sexy video. Just because a video has a high view count doesn't mean it's that memorable - are we going to say that the bed intruder song is more remembered than Slave 4 U because it has something like 8x the view count? Gangnam style? Moves like Jagger?
We're talking about which one is remembered more TODAY. You can't throw sales, view counts or #1s from 10 years ago into this equation.
No one is saying Slave 4 U didn't have an impact or was forgotten. It's just kind of beyond obvious that Dirrty had a bit more impact because it was so much more scandalous.
