No. Katy will always be the bigger singles force in the US, so I'm not surprised that Roar is holding strong. As someone else said, Applause is above Blurred Lines which is a feat within itself.
We can't make all of these assumptions when Applause has been on iTunes for two days. Half of the people probably still think it's coming out on the 19th, and rush releasing the day after Roar went on was a bad idea. If she hasn't peaked within the top 3 on the Hot 100 after the music video and the VMA's, then we can call Applause a US flop.
