I think this year's viewership was in the 7-9 million range. VMAs were 6 million (which was a 50% drop from the previous year ). The viewership for this year should be higher, but it may max around 10-12 million.
But DEATH @ the BET Awards slaying the VMAs. It reminds of how 106 & Park started to overshadow TRL around 2003 onward.
Single wise, I highly doubt that. You're forgetting how much of a pop staple Britney is, she was more played there than Gaga in 2009 and 2011. The lead single will easily go Top 5 at Pop radio and with a radio deal will easily top iTunes just like her last 4 lead singles have.
She's also not doing that generic dance music anymore and will adapt to the new music industry like she always has throughout her 15 year career, trust.
It is obvious that Britney cannot sell on her name alone anymore (see Pay oh La bombing WW) so she better come back with something amazing and easy to digest

I'm sure she will, and OLL isn't a good example considering half of her fanbase hates it didn't even buy it.
Have the Gaga stans still not realized the only reason Gaga is that far up WW is because of her album being put on pre-order? And that Katy is completely obliterating her in singles points?
I wonder what the chart would look like if Katy her POWER had put Prism up for pre-order.
Britney Spears’ new single “Hold It Against Me” continues to shatter more radio records, becoming one of the most played songs in America just one week after it’s debut. Check out her latest batch of Mediabase achievements below.
* BRITNEY SPEARS lands an enormous debut at 22* with “Hold It Against Me” (on Mediabase)
* BRITNEY SPEARS also shatters the one week spincrease record at 3866 spins
* BRITNEY SPEARS has the biggest one week audience debut of 33,237,000

“Hold It Against Me” already broke one-day records for the most spins, so it’s only fitting that she break a couple of weekly records, too. If the song debuts at No.1, it’d be safe to say that this is the biggest start Britney has ever had in the lead-up to a new album. And it doesn’t look like her success is going to slow down any time soon, with Adam Leber Tweeting today, “@TheDoctorLuke Never thought you and #MaxMartin would beat HIAM but I think the impossible has been achieved. Get ready world…..”
No one else but Britney could single-handedly crush iTunes and radio like this without even so much as a 30 second radio interview. That’s what you call true star power. The only other person that could probably do this would’ve been Michael Jackson, who was relentlessly pursued by the public and press despite becoming a recluse in his later years
All my life I want money and power
Respect my mind or die from lead shower
I pray my dick get big as the Eiffel Tower
So I can **** the world for seventy two hours
