Exactly. I don't get how she does not get embarrassed either. When I seen her perform Everytime in the ITZ special and Circus tour, I was embarrassed myself as a fan. Also, I always wonder why she never chose to sing live? What is the reason? Even with ballads... Like come on, you are a singer.
I don't know how she doesn't get embarrassed in performances like TTWE at the BMAs, I mean it was SO obvious she was lip-syncing. How can you just not care?
As for why she lip-syncs, in her prime it used to be mainly because of the hardcore dancing. While she did used to lip sync a number of her ballad performances she also used to sing a lot of them live (especially in her first 2 eras). I just think over the time as her voice declined she just stopped bothering.

LOL OMG Bro that's what I always tell myself. I wonder if she looks back at those performances and how she reacts to them.
She stopped singing live during ITZ. There's only like three out of a gazillion performances from that era of her singing live. I also don't know why she let her voice decline. She's an A-list pop star, she should know better. I think she can get her voice back. Look at He About To Lose Me for instance.
She performed Everytime live on the ITZ special, it just wasn't that good and they used the album version for the broadcast.
Also performed Everytime live on SNL and on tour, along with Shadow.
So it was after the ITZ era that she's completely stopped singing live.

And MATM at the AMAs. but who knows, there could be more of her singing live during the ITZ era but aren't posted on YT. Also, is there a video of the actual live performance of Everytime from the ITZ special.
By the way, I didn't know ITZ was so heavily promoted to the point where restaurants used cups with the ITZ photoshoot pictures printed on them.

ITZ had freaking billboards where I live. Maybe she also had a big budget, so they increased promo.

You can hear a bit of her live vocals here, I don't know if that's real though and where they got it from.
And yes the ITZ promo campaign was absolutely crazy starting from September to December 2003. No wonder she was so overworked at that point and started to rebel. The sales in general were declining at that point and it seems like they just kept pushing her more and more.
ITZ sales were amazing though. Some people may forget that it was a short era with only 3 singles. It had way more potential.
And wasn't the budget for ITZ 10 million? I swear I read it somewhere here lol
(There's a Katy Perry billboard near my house )
ITZ sales were considering disappointing at that time though, even though pop wasn't the dominant genre anymore and it was still one of the best selling pop albums released that year. (If I'm right, 2nd best behind Dido's 'Life For Rent')

The reasons are:
-she can't remember the lyrics well
-She can't use auto-tune during the live performance to help her sound good
-she doesn't feel comfortable every time she comes out in stage. She would be talking to herself like "do people still think that I'm crazy??"
-She's always true to herself. That's why she plays album version of the songs during her performances. No matter what you use pre-recorded vocals, you still lip sync.
And hey!! Lip syncing is what iconic about Britney. So ??
It's not that serious. Her voice is not that much in decline its just that she's comfortable and feels like she can lip as ppl associate her with it. Plus her point of not using prerecorded vocals is valid. Why fool the public? She would rather you know she's lipping than pretend shes singing live but she can't completely disrespect the public...which is why she moves her lips. Her voice still has potential since she never abused it with oversinging and it seems that producers enjoy doing ballads with her to show she still has vocals.

OMG, WTF.
Please tell me you do this kind of stuff on purpose, Bie.
That said, there are no excuses for embarrassing performances such as TTWE at the BMA 2011, some of you better STOP trying.
Can I ask why ITZ era was not that successful in the UK???
The singles peaked high but the sales are
She's been getting a lot of bad press there after the Justin break-up and I don't think they much appreciated her new sexier image + that incident in London at the Crossroads premiere, that's why the album debuted low and was plummeting down the charts initially, however after Toxic and Everytime it got back up and sold about 600k overall I think, which is not amazing, but alright.

She will show more respect to the audience by actually taking time and effort to record a live version for them, instead of just putting her CD in and pressing play.

Sometimes I wonder if she somehow believes everyone is a fan that will let her get away with pretty much everything.
