I like the hook better than the verses. "Gime me the thing that I love" That's nice. I don't know. I don't stan for her so my expectations weren't high. If my fave released this, I would be mad a hell, because this would be weak for a Rihanna lead single. Applause is Ok, don't hate, don't love. I think it'll grab me once some edm dj remixes it like Summertime Sadness.
I don't understand how can little monsters praise this so much. They will force to like everything Gaga puts out and convince themselves it's the best thing ever.
It's all just opinion... seriously. I can easily say the same thing about Rihanna stans, right? I think Diamonds is worse than mediocre, actually, but you all swallowed that up. Why not focus on what you actually think about Applause, instead of what you think about her fans?
Honestly, I'm underwhelmed. But that's not surprising, considering DJ White **** produced it. The best part of the track is the pre-chorus. "I live for the applause, applause, applause." I feel like the song can only be enjoyed in a club or something. The actual applause sample at the end of the song is cute, though. Overall, the production is definitely interesting, but the lyrics and melody just aren't there.
