They did during I Kissed A Girl (has gone #1 in more countries than any other Katy song) and Hot N Cold which was pretty huge in Europe (at least in The Netherlands where I lived). The Teenage Dream era harmed her global appeal. GIVE ME THAT THING THAT I LOVE!

Am I the only one not seeing what's so great about Applause? I heard it on the radio earlier and it did fit nicely I guess, but there's nothing amazing or standout about it. It's on the same level as Femme Fatale for me.
