First of all, children wouldn't know any better.

Secondly, any prejudicial belief the child would have about gay parents would be gone once they realize after living with them that they're just as loving/stable as straight parents.

There's already hundreds of thousands of grown-ups who've been adopted and brought up by gay couples as children and turned out to be great people with good-paying jobs and no police records.. And they have good relationships with their parents and can confidently say that they've been raised by gay parents.

I can't really see any viable argument against it.

I support it and I will do it eventually and I believe my kid will be forward thinking person.I don't mind modest individual thinking .

I don't see a problem with it. If I have a problem with same-sex adoption, then I might as well have a problem with opposite-sex adoption, and single-parent adoption.

As long as the parents to be know what they're doing it's fine.

I cant say I'm against it, but I just think that there's certain things that only a man can teach a child, and certain things a woman can teach a child. But if they wanna try, by all means.

I'm seeing a lot of parroted opinions which have obviously not been thought through logically.

1. A child needs a mother and a father.

No it doesn't. It needs love, support and care. The gender of who offers that is immaterial. The child will have different gender role models to teach them throughout their lives - teachers, grandparents, family friends, media etc. The child will be no more disadvantaged than one from a single parent. If anything, they'll benefit from the extra parent helping things run smoothly.

2. A child doesn't ideally want same-sex parents.

What is this based on? A child isn't born with prejudice, that's taught. An adopted baby won't know any different, just as most of us don't know any different to our family situation. A childhood without a mother sounds unimaginable to me, but that's purely because I'm projecting my experience. Some had no mother or wished they had no mother growing up, but that doesn't change anything for me. A child of same sex parents only knows the love of their parents, replacing one of them with some generic, faceless father or mother so other people can view their family as "normal" is ridiculous and definitely NOT what they would want.

If we're talking adoption of older kids, then they will surely have a say. If they're old enough to know they definitely don't want same-sex parents and would rather stay homeless and alone, that's their business. Nobody will force them.

3. A child will be disadvantaged.

So, loving potential parents should be punished in anticipation that external parties will have a problem with it? A couple who dream of having a child should be denied because some bratty kid MIGHT bully them at school? Should parents with ginger genes be treated similarly? Black parents discouraged from reproducing in areas they might face racism? Punish the victims because dealing with the attackers is a hassle?

4. It's not natural, so it's not right.

Why stop at gays? Let's boycott all couples (and singles) who can't reproduce through conventional intercourse. Let's make all those orphans wait for those healthy heterosexual couples who can have children! Because, of course, if they can physically procreate they'll be snapping up these kids left and right!

Well then the government better do something about single parents

For everyone who says: "Oh, how will you explain it to your child?" or "But the child wouldn't want two moms or two dads":

Explaining to a kid why it has two moms/two dads is much easier than telling him why it has no mom/no dad. You just say: love is between two people, sometimes a man and a woman, sometimes a man and a man, sometimes a woman and a woman. Simple as that. You can still be in contact with the biological father or mother and then you just say that you have three parents. The child will understand later on anyway.
