Can't wait for the Disney marketing machine to start doing its thing. It's going to be everywhere.
Disney Screens Awesome MALEFICENT Footage - D23 Expo
Today at their D23 Expo, during Disney's live-action movie panel, they showed fans the first footage from Angelina Jolie's highly anticipated film Maleficent. The movie is being directed by Robert Stromberg from a screenplay written by Linda Woolverton (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast). The movie looks so freakin' amazing! The visuals in this movie are going to be incredible, and Jolie was born to play this villainous role. She absolutely kills it in the scene from the film that they showed.
“Maleficent” is the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.
The film also stars Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville. It opens in theaters on July 2nd, 2014.
"Since I was a little girl, Maleficent was always my favorite." -- Angelina Jolie
That was a cringe-worthy, try-hard statement, Angie.
You could virtually HEAR the collective
eye rolls of the entire crowd at the expo.
But do you, Angie. Say what you gotta say and do
what you gotta do to promote this film, chick.
...Vin
She's been trying to get this project off the ground for years BECAUSE she loves the character. She's a producer on it. So it's probably true that Maleficent was her fave.
