We go to the same school in real life, do quiz bowl together, and I drag her around town on days when neither of us is busy. In return for this compliance I occasionally buy things for her and will take her to Barnes and Noble soon - but only after she forgets that $30 I owe her.

They are embarrassing to be with.
The majority of ATRL members aren't even close to what the Twitter fans are like. Hardly any Monsters actually call Gaga "Mother Monster", and nobody seriously thinks their fave has a legitimate royal title - "Queen" is just used as an expression of support or as an opinion on their place within the industry. Calling all of ATRL "embarrassing to be with" based on misconceptions and generalizations is kind of harsh, in my opinion.
But my best friends know about this site and think it's gay-troll-land
