True artists don't follow trends, they release the music they want to make themselves

I was mainly talking about her album 4 which was released in 2011. EDM was at its peak and was the trend for a couple of years after.

She could pull off some amazing EDM. Her voice is huge and would kill an awesome chorus!

Because Pop is more safe than EDM. She has made Pop music: Sweet Dreams, Radio, etc.

You are forgetting that some artists like Rihanna for example can score non-EDM top 10 hits like Diamonds and Stay (with former being a simple piano driven ballad) and flop with the most preditctable EDM songs (Right Now) so your logic is flawed. Specific genre doesn't always mean surefire successs.

The people that have been fans of her for 10+ years like her because of the style of music she does, it would be selfish for her to switch to another style of music that most of her fans won't like to get a few easy hits.

He was talking about in 2011 I think. Dance-pop was the sure-fire way to get a hit in 2011 (and a few years before that), so Beyonce could've done those types of songs but she decided not to.

It's different now, Beyonce's type of music would probably do better than a dance-pop song anyway in 2013.

She is playing it safe though and also in boring way. It's not like working with "4" producers was risky.

Actually working with underground generally unknown EDM producers could be risky.

Right Now would have been a hit 2/3 years ago as a first single from Rihanna.
