Nobody is being overdramatic. Have you even read whats been happening to gays in Russia? Would you like to be arrested and thrown in jail simply for saying "I'm gay"?

Also, please elobrate on why you feel the western world isn't any better.

didn't Vancouver do a great job of hosting the 2010 Olympics. God damn $50 billion on the Sochi games?
Vancouver did it for like $4 billion and probably goes down in history as one of the best Winter Olympics

They've spent more money on the Winter Olympics then some countries/cities have spent on the Summer olympics, which are four times bigger.

Apparently there is an online petition ordering the Olympics to be held in Vancouver. A few hours ago it was at 60thousand signatures and now it's 75thousand

I think its cause they built every venue from scratch. I didn't even believe it at first that they spent $50 billion on the Winter olympics. London only spent like $20 billion on their games.

It's not possible for Vancouver to host on such short notice. There's only like 7 months left, and it normally takes years to organize the Olympics.
