Little Red Riding Hood is around Sophia's age in most of the fairytale versions. We're just too used to the adaptation films always using hot actresses in their 20s playing roles like that..having a really young girl play Riding Hood will make it much more believable especially with Meryl and Depp imo.
I hope Rosie is given a role too, even if it's a small one.
