The scope of this album is so enormous that I'm still impressed Ms. Monáe was able to pull it off impeccably. Its themes and messages come across as important and meaningful but never forced, which, combined with the R&B/soul/dance fusion, really make The ArchAndroid not only (in my opinion) the best R&B album of all time, but also one of the best albums ever. Just how momentous a project this is reveals itself most prominently upon the closing of BaBopBye Ya, after having listened to the entire album; it always compels me to think over the themes, the commentary, the lyrics, the sounds that Ms. Monáe brought forth. I have listened to "Cold War" well over sixty times and I still find different meanings in it. The ArchAndroid is, to me, the most expressive and intelligible R&B album I have heard.

The ArchAndroid is part of a series of concept albums influenced by the film Metropolis and accommodates a very wide variety of genres including neo-soul, funk and art-rock. Add in her perfect, wide ranged vocals and you have a thrilling, beautiful and magical sonic adventure.
Amy is my girl. I rocked with her and I legit cried when she died T.T. RIP. “Love is a Losing Game” is a beautiful song and kind of a torch song for forlorn hearts. It never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
This album is probably the very first album I ever heard in full. I was 4 when it got released and my mum rushed her ass to store to buy it (she's the biggest Janet fan in the world). It's also one of the albums I listened to the most growing up.

She showed so much sexuality and personality in this album but at the same time she still kept it fun and continued to grow as an artist experimenting more with Rock, House, Jazz and still talking about serious topics in songs like “New Agenda.” With her dancers, she took over the ‘90s world; every female wanted to look and move like Janet. Rolling Stone magazine named it one of the top 60 albums of the ‘90s and it's also included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the top 100 albums of ALL TIME! This album paved the way for the Beyoncé's and Rihanna's to be able to showcase their sexuality on stage while selling worldwide.
