Tegan and Sara appeared on Ellen this afternoon, coming in right after their celebratory in store performance at Amoeba for the release of their 7” Vinyl Single for 'Youth'. It was the duo's second time on the show, and they seemed to enjoy it just as much as their first visit.
Introduced by Ellen with the words, “After their first time on my show, they became my favorite band and nothing has changed about that”, the twins played their current single 'Youth' in what was a compelling performance both visually and sonically.
It might have been their best rendition of the song yet, both Tegan and Sara seeming perfectly comfortable in front of the cameras, playing their tune in a professional yet charming manner that made it look like it was more fun for them than work – the shy smiles at the camera and slightly awkward dance moves made for an adorable performance, with everything from the vocal harmonies to the sisters' side-swept bangs working in perfect synchronicity. The discreet light show they had brought along only added to the beauty of the moment, dipping the band in a mellow purple light, which we heard is Tegan's favorite color.
It's no surprise they received standing ovations as soon as the last note had been played, and even Ellen herself was all excited, hugging and complimenting the Quin sisters on their great performance and assuring them they were welcome to return to her show anytime. An offer they will hopefully take up, because we surely can't get enough of them!
