How can Rihanna be a queen of any generation when she's an abominably slow album seller? It took her six months to go Platinum with her last album. How is she even queen of the US alone when acts like Taylor and Pink are having better and more successful eras than her messy ass #UNALOPOGETIC era? How is she queen of any generation when it took her four tours to finally gross a decent amount and seven albums before she could hit #1? Why are barely any of her eras even that distinguishable? Why is it that only a few of her 3 billion singles stand out as huge-selling hits?

If Rihanna had never released 3 million singles, she wouldn't have sold as many records. Look at the raw numbers and you'll see that most of her singles don't even sell that well. They just chart well. Only a few stand out as strong digital sellers. The rest are forgettable. Gaga and Katy have definitive moments with their singles and eras. With Rihanna it's just "another Rih single, another Rih whatever".

Gaga is a bigger star than Rihanna because she broke out onto the scene as a circus act. It's always been props and costumes, and now that nobody really cares / isn't shocked by what she wears, she has faded.

I was iffy on Rihanna until "We Found Love" came out and she really just kept smashing, selling albums, and touring stadiums. She's still a horrible performer but she's slowly leaving her mark even if it is just because of the sheer amount of hits she has.

Why did it took Rihanna 5 (or is it 6?) albums to get her first 5X platinum single as a lead artist?
