I tried getting into this a year ago. I LOVE the idea of it, but I kept falling asleep during every episode. I found the ice truck killer kind of boring and everyone says that's the best plot of the series so I stopped there.
I love Dexter, its probably my favorite show in a while however, lately it has been really boring. I love when he just goes around and gets into crazy stuff and this season hasn't deliver that so far, but i have hope for the 2nd half of it. Anyways the show will go on to be one of the best at least to me.
The current season is miles better than the ones previous. Jennifer Carpenter is going above and beyond than we've ever seen before.
But really, the show peaked at season 4 with Rita's death..I think people wanted to see Dexter manage both his family and hobby. There wasn't any character development in Dexter which made viewers bored.

Dexter hasn't really entertained me in a number of seasons, but I continue to watch out of loyalty to Michael C. Hall and his once fantastic show.
[UNPOPULAR OPINION]At this point, I actively root against Dexter, and I'll only be satisfied if his character is somehow apprehended or meets his end at the hands of someone capable of out-smarting him.[/UNPOPULAR OPINION]
It's so effing boring now and has been for several seasons. I watch it because I've already watched all of it, so I might as well finish the show. It was really entertaining for awhile. They really dropped the ball on the atmosphere, and their attempts at prompting deep discussions on morality and such have become pretty...bad.
