Miley Cyrus Performs On ‘The Today Show’
Co-host #1: Her new single has been topping charts globally, and she just debuted at #10 on the CAL chart!
Co-host #2: Here to perform her new single, it’s Miley Cyrus!
*The stage is set outside on the block, as you can see Miley’s banner behind her. The stage is set dead in Times Square, familiar territory to Miley and the band begins playing. Her back faced the audience, as she stood there striking some simple pose. As soon as the band cued Miley, she turned around, grabbed the microphone stand and began to sing her song. The audience cheered as they saw her face, and she continued to sing her verse. Although Miley was recovering from a cold, she still sounded like fire. Her voice was still solid, and she still had the attitude to make the Pop-Rock cut work live. She got to the pre-chorus, taking the microphone of the stand and then bending down off the stage to reach for her fans. Fans were shoving, screaming and putting their arms out just to get a feel of the Teen Legend in person*
*When she reached the chorus, she got back to the center of the stage and began to strut around a little bit. She also ran from side to side of the stage, jumped around, spun a bit and just gave her performance all of her energy. The crowd was feeling her energy, as this performance was a bit stripped compared to the others. She had no boxes, no flat escalator; there were no props on stage. The only asset she had was her voice, and her band, which she was definitely using well. She wore some sneakers, with ripped jean shorts and a shirt with the words ‘Not About Pretty Vogue’ laid out on it*
*She cruised through the second verse, motioning her body in effortless directions and beamed through the pre-chorus with an angelic, bold falsetto. She stage dived into the crowd during the second chorus, continuing to sing while she was being floated around. The crowd sang along with her, and their voices were projected more since the microphone was relatively close to them in some areas. Miley kept on going all the way to the end of the block, as the band played the bridge with a little twist on the guitar*
Miley shouted while in the crowd, “Alrighty guys get ready!” She told the fans to bring her back to the stage ASAP, and they followed her requests.
*She rode the audience back to the stage quickly, just in time for the chorus. She began twerking on the stage and singing at the same time, which she had done in previous performances impressing people. This time however, she twerked to the crowd as her ass was facing the crowd. The fans cheered even louder, and Miley jumped up to sing the final lyrics of the song. She kept on going around the stage, jumping going a bit faster and more energetic than usual. She kicked the microphone stand down and struck a pose as the performance closed*
