Why are Treasure, Same Love, Right Now, and True Love not catching on like all of the artists' previous singles?

When I Was Your Man, Can't Hold Us, Stay, and Just Give Me a Reason all slayed. Why are the new singles not performing as well?

Same Love has paled in comparison to the success Can't Hold Us on radio and digital perfomance.

Treasure, a catchy 80s-infused jam is not sticking as well as When I Was Your Man did on iTunes, hurting his chart performance.

Right Now, though it lacks a music video, did go top 50, but it is already losing audience impressions on radio when it has only been a single for about two months, compared to Stay which is still in the top 20 on radio and has been a single since January and has amazing longevity on radio and digitally.

True Love has a music video and all but it's not really had an impact on sales.

Why are these follow up singles having lukewarm success or are outright flopping?

Because not every song a successful artist releases is going to be a hit, even if it should be or "sounds like a hit". A lot more goes into it than just "oh, ____ sings this and it's a hot song, it will definitely go #1".

Right Now is a wrong single choice, plus it lacks video and promo so.

True Love is a wrong single choice too.

Treasure is doing great, top10 on iTunes for weeks it will go multiplatinum.

Same Love is doing great too, yeah we expected to do better as Can't Hold Us but still

Blurred Lines really overshadowed everything

And all are 3rd singles (True Love 4th) released during the summer...it's the one period of the year where songs are liked in a certain position

That and they are more chilled and laid back songs (RN is whatever)

True Love is picking up slowly. It won't be as big as JGMAR, but it'll be a decent sized hit

Same Love just isn't as good of a song as CHU or TS, so I'm not shocked. It's also still doing pretty well

Imo, I think True Love and Same Love should be released at least a couple of weeks later than their actual release date.

Same Love is too controversial and risky,
Right Now sucks,
True Love is an unpromoted 4th single w/a bad mv.

Same Love has not been promoted since it was re-released. That and the fact the video is old, usually it's videos that help push the song further. They should have made an alternate video (maybe with females) to help push the song. I'm sure they'll perform it at the VMA's but it might be too late by then.

Treasure was never going to be a number 1 hit. I couldn't believe people on here thought it would be. It's a nice, catchy song, and definitely top 10 worthy, but it's not a smash hit.

Right Now just isn't good. She should have released Numb.

True Love is following 3 hit singles so obviously by now the momentum of the album will die.

I believe True Love and Right Now are wrong single choices.

Treasure and Same Love are doing great, not as great as their predecessors but at least they are doing nice.

Treasure and Same Love are doing just fine.
Right Now isn't catching on because there has been no promotion, no video & quite frankly, the quality of the song is poor.
Bad single choice.

At least 'Treasure' is Top 5 and 'Same Love' near Top 10, 'Right Now' is going very slow but that's because the promo has been terribly bad, I don't know how Island Def Jam thinks this no-streaming approach can benefit Rihanna. Not an audio video, lyric video, no spotify, etc. She should perform it, I mean there's someone who has to have a job of thinking creative stuff (performances, choreo, video, ways of exposing a song to the public) for the promo of each single and no work has been done with 'Right Now'. Radio is not going to do it all the time, has it even been the deciding factor for Rihanna's past singles?

'Stay' and 'Diamonds' were promoted. I don't know why the people over there are so bipolar starting the era great then really going down, the team needs confidence, they're shut down by the critics or something, what's the problem? 'Unapologetic' has a great set of songs that can be big hits, the problem there is that the team is scared that they don't even know how to promote the rest of the songs, like I even imagined videos for like 6 songs and they all work but these people can't even try to make 'Right Now' happen, like it's so expensive to shoot a video. There's a reason the most viewed videos in YouTube are music videos, people consume music videos, just last year a totally unknown korean artist made a video that went so viral that he made millions of it and got known in the whole world, Miley created a smash out of her video, the numbers weren't that high for her but once the video got released it drew so much attention that pushed the song a lot.

Why can't Rihanna's team lighten up a bit and do what they're supposed to do? Get some self-esteem.
