People ARE willing to pay more for a better experience, and one that doesn't have to be replaced every two years. Heck, you can still use an iBook G4 to do a lot of things and that was a budget Mac in 2005. And it can edit HD video's whereas even recent laptops from 2009 can't with 3x the specs.
