It is WAY too early for it to be the lead single. Even if they released the Album in November it would be too early.
I am still interested to see what release day they choose. December makes no sense to me, but maybe they know something we don't (the release dates of albums by other artists) so they are trying to stay out of the fray.

I just question a December release date since their album sold VERY well all throughout the holidays, and a December release would leave so many November sales on the table.

9 dollars?! For a 3D movie? 3D tickets are like $13.99 plus tax in Canada.
