Nick tells us he went back and forth about posting the shirtless pic and is honestly shocked by the attention it ended up getting. “There’s a lot of people running around without their shirts on these days, so I just didn’t want to add to the noise, but I felt like as a diabetic … it’s twice as hard for us diabetics to stay in shape. I’ve met a lot of diabetics recently who have come to me and said, ‘Thank you for being so vocal about fitness and health’ because it’s helping them. I just wanted to give some inspiration to those people … It’s been a pretty hilarious reaction.”
But it wasn’t just health that inspired Nick. He also has a few love scenes with actress Isabel Lucas in the upcoming film, Careful What You Wish For, and “I wanted to look ok.”
Of all the crazy reactions and questions he’s received about the photo, Nick says the most-asked is: Who took it? ”That was the funniest part of the reaction … people trying to figure out who took it. There’s a self-timer setting on the camera.”
And not only is Nick’s body perfect, but so are his photo-taking abilities … he says he only snapped one pic before getting it just right. ”I’m not lying here … it was one picture … I debated [posting] it with my brothers and people in our band. I was like, ‘Should I do this?’ and they were like, ‘You have to!’ So I did it.”
But don’t get your hopes up for more, unfortunately. ”I don’t know if it’s something I’d do again,” he admits. “People will just have to go see the movie for more of that.”
