As you said it yourself, EDM was in it's best moment when Rihanna released We Found Love, not trendsetter at all. Same for the ballads, Adele and Lana released their albums before Unapologetic.
I definitely think Rihanna is good at placing herself ahead of the curve of trends; I don't think she necessarily creates trends, but, she's has a good eye and instinct for seeing where things are heading and is an early adapter like with the dance pop explosion of the 00s.
That said, most of the OP is pure delusion and foolishness. Pon De Replay created the early 00s dancehall trend? That's like saying J Lo's On The Floor created the dance pop trend. The dancehall trend of that time period was on its last leg when Pon De Replay came out. Not only was Pon De Replay late as all hell to the party, she used the same exact Diwali riddim that had been around since like 01-02 and already was a hit on several other songs before hers -- Sean Paul, Lumidee, Wayne Wonder. The rest is too dumb to even bother with like Deja Vu and Hips Don't Lie being dancehall or even dancehall influenced... like... sit.
