TD opened with 192K with two big hits and a ton of promo.
Modern Vampires of the City opened with 134K with no hits and not much promo besides SNL.

Arcade Fire have a much larger fanbase and lot more visibility than Vampire Weekend.

Will be interesting... I expect Arcade Fire to open with ~250K. The Suburbs opened with 156K and the band had a LOT less presence then.

Loud had no re-release, no remix album, only "promoted" (using the term loosely) for 9 months and still outsold TD. What kind of power?

I wouldnt be so sure, TD had a LONG LIFE kinda like what IASF could have had if Beyonce would have Fame Monstered it with some new europop songs. Katys label was really smart to keep going with that album and milk it for filth, that is really the smart route when you want to sell an album from an artist like Katy, MAKE people want it.

GGGB is such a massive catalog seller in the UK.

It's not that hard to imagine that it sold ~1M in 4.5 years especially considering it sold 200K /year in the UK
