Tegan and Sara on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight
Note: This happened yesterday (Monday), I just didn't get to post it because I had to re-type my other post and the server was so terrible.

After almost three years, Tegan and Sara returned to Canadian talk show George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight on CBC to discuss their comeback and more. It was a very laid back and relaxed conversation, with the sisters being their usual funny selves and visibly enjoying the program. Here's what they had to say..
..on promo in the UK:
It was almost a bit scary going over there and presenting the new song to them first, we had no idea how they'd receive it and what the reactions would be because we usually don't go until a couple of months into the era. But in the end, it was a very rewarding experience, everyone was so welcoming, Radio 1 gave us a lot of support and we were extremely happy that we decided to switch things up like this. Especially that secret concert, I was like 'Omg, that's gonna flop, we only have one new song out, how are people gonna get excited for a concert?' but they didn't mind at all, they were super enthusiastic and it was a very special night.
..on releasing an album on their own label:
It's not that different from how we released albums before, except that now we don't have to ask anyone for the final okay anymore. If we're happy with a song or album or whatever, then we know it's gonna happen, we don't have to ask for permission anymore. That's the only thing that has changed probably, we still work with our team and management who have been with us for a long time and we'd never change that. Those are people who are very close to us and we trust them 100%, and that's just something you need in this industry to back you up.
..on the writing process of this album:
We just continued from where we left off with Heartthrob, as far as the concept and way we write songs goes. Sara and I would individually start writing and then share those ideas at some point and help each other flesh out the demos into full blown songs. We have become much more used to collaborating on songs that way, and I think it's something that has brought us forward and brings more options to the table when we join forces like that.
..on going back to working with Chris Walla as a producer:
We had worked with Chris on three albums before Heartthrob, on which we wanted to try something else and got Greg Kurstin and that was a very big experience for us. We learned so much from him because he had a very different approach, he was very creative and we got a lot of work done in the studio, during the actual records, whereas before we usually spent more time on the demos and making them near perfect before entering the studio. But having been through that, we really wanted to work with Chris again, who is also a good friend, and sort of combine our knowledge with his and see where it would take us, compared to our earlier albums. We were also going for a bit of a darker sound again on this album, which is something Chris knows how to do very well. And we didn't regret working with him again for one second, we just clicked again and all the things he had done and we had done in the meantime turned out to be very helpful.
The band also announced that they will be visiting Much Music's New.Music.Live tomorrow (Tuesday) for an exclusive premiere of their video for 'Youth', make sure not to miss that!
