I am one of those fortunate people who live in Finland and do get free post-secondary education. The overall quality of the Finnish education is the best in the world.

Considering there are plenty of people out there that WANT an education but can't afford it, I think free education is a nice idea. It should be a necessity.

We don't have to have our education be COMPLETELY free but PLEASE stop making it so most of the people have to take out a loan to pay for their education.

The U.S government would rather not educate the masses. trololol. Plus those who make money have power and education is the biggest scam since who knows what. Makes me angry tbh

The Gov't ain't spending more money on education. The school I go to charges $55,000 a year and I'm like no m'am I ain't got that money. Luckily, I get scholarships.

It would be on the citizens to want to do that, they would have to pay more in taxes on everything. But no one wants to pay more taxes so thus, there is a rising cost of post-high school education.

It's free here. Our government pays for our water, electricity, healthcare and education.

I think they could come up with a better ways to make education more affordable in the US. How I'm not sure.

But when college football coaches make 1million + and far more than even the dean in some schools, tell me where the **** my money is going. Chhh.

Wait ! Where do you live ?

for several reasons...

1. Finland is small and the US is huge in terms of population
2. Finland is socialist with high taxes, the US are extremely capitalist
3. Universities in the US, UK, Canada are factually for profit organizations, they need money. The money are then spent partially on top of the line research that it would not be possible otherwise

I'm pretty sure people think it's just too much effort. Plus, a lot of universities are private institutions under US law.

Cute, but not really true. I've been paying for public education since I want to kindergarten and Bush was in office. I never expected anyone to change that for me later in life with universities.
