Just back from the premiere in my country!

Although the characterization is half-baked and the plot is mechanically drafted, I think the human dimension is still pervasive. The sense of the struggle of each character, especially Mako, still makes you want to engage.

And not to speak of Del Toro's merits, which is his ability to create strong sense of mythology and bountiful of eerie visuals. The multicultural symbolism was merge into the movie with such grace and delight. The whole world view is just so out there it never ceases to amaze. I really like it and it is better than most of the summer blockbusters being released this year.

Thank god earlier overseas numbers show that the film won't flop WW

I watched this last night and I went in expecting a Michael Bay/Transformers size mess but it was really good. Charlie Hunnam and Robert Kazinsky were a bit distracting though

The one thing I didn't like was how cringe inducing the "deep" moments were, minus Mako's background scene.
