All released about the same time, Red is about done while TTAL will likely end up selling more with 1/20th of the promo Taylor had. Rihanna had about the same promo of Pink if not more, and U fell off the chart with a disappointing 3.5 millions sold.
P!nk is much more global than Tay, JGMAR really helped the album (and its one of the biggest releases of the year), Rih isn't an album seller and U wasn't a good album and TTAL is a decent pop album with many great songs! I'm not surprised it's slaying! It will probably outsell many bigger releases like BTW and TD by the end of 2013.
Don't give a **** about Taylor, but Rihanna is at least ten times the star P!nk is, so I guess it doesn't really matter! UA has also produced more hits than TTAL.
Rihanna was not overshadowed by her till around April. She sort of pays the era dust now and I think it's over. Pink's discounts helped her but all in all I think it was just handled really well.
She did not overshadow Taylor Swift though.
And to the ratchet stan, Unapologetic and Red were both 1.99 that week.
I wouldn't say it did. Taylor on one hand is actually doing just as well, for the most part due to her massive US power. On the other hand, P!nk may have overshadowed Rihanna to an extent, and I would personally blame that on mishandled singles after "Stay" and a lack of sufficient general promotion.
