Krewella Talks: Moving to Revolution Records, New Material and Lead Single
Today DJ/Dance trio Krewella stopped by to start giving some signs at the new lead single. The lead single off of their new era is confirmed to be released next week, but that's just about all we know so far. So here's what we asked!
Amy: Hello Krewella, welcome to our little studio here at Music Choice!
Krewella: Hey!
Amy: How's everything going?
Jahan: I'd say amazing right now!
Amy: Alright so, let's get down to business. New label. New single. New album. New era. So tell us, what's really going on?
Yasmine: Well, it all started when we were in secret works with Georgie Skai. He had just founded his record label Revolution Records and we were just in need of a new label.
Jahan: Yeah, yeah. Our old label was good, though. We had creative control, a decent amount of promo and we were treated well. It's just that we didn't feel like the executives there were putting in 110% of their effort into us, so we decided to leave,
Amy: So why did you choose Revolution Records?
Jahan: Well... We just got off to a very good vibe with Georgie and the whole idea of a new label. And Georgie already loves our material so we figured if wouldn't hurt.
Amy: Well that's great news! And congrats on also being the FIRST confirmed act signed to Revolution Records!
Krewella: Thank you!
Amy: So how was it like working with this label on the album?
Rain Man: It was actually pretty amazing. They were extremely supportive of everything we were doing and they also guided us into going towards the right direction. We worked with some producers like Krystal Image, Georgie Skai of course, Martin Jacks, Josh Market and this band mamed Sapphire which we really connected with.
Amy: Seems very interesting! So what kind of music has this been mainly centered around?
Rain Man: Definitely Dance music. It's what we love, breathe, know and do. Our previous label tried making us go in a more Pop direction, but we didn't feel comfortable with that. However, we did find ourselves doing some more Dance-Pop tracks towards the end of this project. But with Revolution Records it felt more natural, diverse, and just right so yeah I guess it's working out pretty well.
Amy: Now Yasmine, you're still rapping right?
Yasmine: Yes. It's not Eminem or Azealia Banks type of Rap, but I still do the mid-tempo kind of Ke$ha style Rap. So yeah!
Amy: Any rapping like that on the lead single perhaps?
Krewella: *laughs*
Rain Man: Well... we can't give TOO much away just yet.
Jahan: I think we could answer that.
Yasmine: Yes, I do some of that rapping on the lead single.
Amy: WOW! Actual news! I mean I know it's only been a day but SO much has been going on in the ATRL Music Industry so any information we can get is practically amazing! Anyway, can we get some album teas?
Jahan: I'm not that sure... I mean, we're barely allowed to say much on the single so I think it'd be a crime to our label if we spilled too much album tea already. But, like we said earlier, there is a nice range of music that we haven't showcased before.
Amy: And the album should be out in August, correct?
Krewella: Yes, yes!
Amy: So how are we gonna promote this little project right here?
Yasmine: Our team is really making an effort to get us on the VMAs but it's been pretty difficult so far. We kind of broke out into the General Public with "Alive" but we still don't have that good of name recognition yet. So yeah, it's been a struggle but it is what it is.
Amy: Alrighty! Well it's almost time to wrap up so I'm just going to ask one more thing!
Krewella: Yeah, take a shot.
Amy: When does the music video for the lead single come out?
Rain Man: Wow... I wasn't expecting that question! But, let's see, it should be out early August.
Amy: Great! Well I had so much fun talking with you guys today.
Krewella: Yeah, thanks we had fun too!
Amy: There you have it folks, some fresh Krewella tea right there! Be sure to follow their record label Revolution Records on Twitter (@RevRecordsPromo) for more updates on the lead single throughout the week. And hopefully next week we will be hearing much more about you. From the Music Choice studio, it's your girl Amy, bye now!
Krewella: *waves* Bye!
