Canadian's hottest twin duo,
Tegan and Sara, have revaled that they have founded their own label on which they will be releasing from now on! Says Sara, "After more than ten years of making music, it just came as a natural step to get our own label to ensure we have complete artistic freedom. We've always been involved in the business side of our career from the beginning, so dealing with the organizational stuff is nothing new for us. And who knows, maybe this will give us a chance to discover and help out some up and coming artists."
The label is called
Nineteen Records and Sara was so kind to elaborate on the name for us. "Yes, the name was inspired by our song
Nineteen (from their 2007 album "The Con"). At first, we didn't really liked the idea but then for some reason, Tegan kept repeating it and singing it all day and it had this nice ring to it and just flowed really well. So we decided to go with it, also because the song means a lot to us and it's also a fan favorite."
We also asked Sara whether this news means that the band has lined up a new release, to which she replied with a mysterious smile, "Let's just say this is the start of a new era, we'll let you know when there are any news!" Well, that doesn't sound too shabby, so let's hope we'll hear from them again rather sooner than later. We're starving for some new indie pop tunes from these girls!
