Would you consider the 11 million selling album supporting tour a success? 120+ dates grossing less than $60 M. Let's not forget that the album beat MJ's record with 6 #1s. So, is the tour successful or underwhelming?

Underwhelming. And Teenage Dream sold around 5-6 million copies. I have yet to see an actual official source claim that 11 million figure.

She was charging like 35 dollars a ticket, as opposed to some girls charging 3x that for the last row.

No. It had a lot of dates, and she was all over the radio in 2011 so why wasn't people here to buy tickets for her show?

Other artists don't even need to put albums out when they tour!

Pretty much all of the pop girls (except K$) last tours were more successful.

Why? Gaga came out in 2008 (a bit later) and has outgrossed her. Adele (although she never had a large tour) can also outgross her I mean her live DVD went diamond.

Katy just put the prices low because she cares about her fans. A true humanitarian and Christian woman. She will do stadiums with her next tour please anticipate.

60M is nothing to sniff at, it was VERY successful. The real question should be how is it so successful with her mediocre songs
