Gaga is set to release her new lead single to her highly-anticipated album, 'ARTPOP,' in mid August (the 19th has been set as the official release date).
Will she reclaim both titles again (fastest to top US iTunes and best debut sales week by a woman)? Will she reclaim only one of those titles? Will she not reclaim any?
It depends on how well they market it and on how good it is, and also on whether or not the media break worked with the general public. I personally would be super happy already if the single managed to crack 400K the first week, knowing the second week will be boosted big time by the VMA performance and later on by the music video and the big-scale promo which they will obviously line up. 623K seems a bit too much, even with a full week (she would have topped it with a full first week of BTW, though, but it was the most anticipated song ever so...). I also don't think she will shoot to number one in less than an hour, that's crazy (considering not even BTW did it that fast).
She can and will sell more than 623k. I mean sure BTW was more anticipated, but it could have sold about 850k in a full first week. A less anticipated single, if the ARTPOP lead remains as such, still has a 200k+ drop that could outdo Taylor.
However, the 50 minute record seems a bit iffy to me. It's possible, but I wouldn't say it's likely.
Probably. 448K in 3 days vs. 623 in 6 days. With a full seven days she has a high chance of possibly snatching her crown. I won't care either way as they're both my faves!
