I've got ten now. HOORAY!
Honorable Mention: Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight
-- I can't possibly see it making my year-end top ten, but I've grown to have a new found appreciation for the album as of late.
[10] Static-X - Cannibal
-- If only "Destroyer" didn't exist.
Favorites: "Chemical Logic", "Cannibal", "Chroma-Matic", "Behemoth"
[9] Kanye West - Graduation
-- I wouldn't put it on the level of his first two albums, but it does have some quality tracks.
Favorites: "Stronger", "Everything I Am", "Champion", "I Wonder"
[8] Thrice - The Alchemy Index: Vols. 1 and 2: Fire and Water
-- I'm of the belief so far that Fire destroys Water in every way. If it wasn't for Water(except for the beautiful "Digital Sea"), I think this would be much higher than it actually is. Seriously, Fire is that good.
Favorites: "Firebreather", "Backdraft", "Burn the Fleet", "Digital Sea"
[7] The Nightwatchman - One Man Revolution
-- Probably my most surprising album. Folk FTW.
Favorites: "One Man Revolution", "The Garden of Gethsemane", "Union Song", "Until the End"
[6] Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris
-- Bet you weren't expecting this outside of the top 5, were you? It's good, but there are a few songs that I'm not feeling.
Favorites: "Make It Wit Chu", "I'm Designer", "3's & 7's", "Run Pig Run"
[5] Bruce Springsteen - Magic
-- Probably the one artist more than any other that I've grown to appreciate quite a bit this year. The new album by The Boss is spectacular. He's in his late 50's now, and he's still putting out amazing music like this. Think about that for a minute.
Favorites: "Livin' in the Future", "Devil's Arcade", "Last to Die", "Radio Nowhere"
[4] The White Stripes - Icky Thump
-- COOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNQUEEESSSSTTTTTT! 'Nuff said.
Favorites: "Conquest", "Rag & Bone", "300 MPH *******ial Outpour Blues", "Effect & Cause"
[3] Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
-- Is it as good as
Funeral? I'm not too sure about that. But some of the songs rival anything they've ever done.
Favorites: "No Cars Go", "Intervention", "My Body is a Cage", "(Antichrist Television Blues)"
[2] Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero
-- God, I hate putting this at #2. This album doesn't deserve #2. It deserves #1. But I have to make a choice here and, if I have to choose between the two, I'd put this one at #2, simply because the worst songs aren't as good as the worst songs on the #1 album.
Favorites: "In This Twilight", "God Given", "Me, I'm Not", "Survivalism", "Zero-Sum", "The Great Destroyer"
[1] Korn - Untitled
-- You know, for a band with only three of their five original members performing on this album, this is a pretty damn good album!
Favorites: "Ever Be", "Starting Over", "Innocent Bystander", "Kiss", "Hold On", "I Will Protect You"
And I can almost guarantee that
Elect the Dead will be in the top three when the year's said and done. #1? We'll see.
