Why is Beyoncé not an attraction to iTunes Buyers?
Beyoncé, an artist worth several hundred million, has an appeal that stretches across the America’s and several places across the globe. Alongside her marriage to Jay-Z, she is ˝ of a power couple that occupies every magazine, newspaper, website article when anything remotely interesting occurs.
In this manner, you would assume that Beyoncé would therefore be a great draw to the new generation of music buyers. Those same teens/young adults who worship Taylor Swift, Bieber & Lady GaGa will almost certainly see Beyoncé on the same award shows/TV gala’s as their own idols.
However, in contrast to her peers, Beyoncé has never attained the same success. Her previous releases in 2011 attracted attention by not entering the top 10 on Billboard, while not achieving the success she witnessed with her previous albulm “I...Am Sasha Fierce”. While fans will cite her debut before the digital era as justifiable reasoning for a lack of power, her peers Britney Spears & P!nk have seen incredible success on iTunes and subsequently on Billboard.
While her two recent releases (B2B f/ André 3000 and Part II – On the Run f/ Jay-Z) haven’t sent the digital buyers in a frenzy, what does this suggest in relation to her upcoming era. Could she still retain her ~celebrity power and transfer it into digital success, or is she possibly branded as a touring icon?
Thoughts?
