But they shouldn't. iPads/iPods/Cell Phones are for 10+ year olds IMHO. A 6 year old has no reason to have any of those things unless said device could somehow enhance their intellectual/social development. This development is probably better done with actual interaction between parent & child, rather than a parent using a device to take their child step-by-step. Children should learn how to be relatively technologically independent until a decent age. Once they're 10, IMO, they are assumed ready to be decently intelligent & responsible enough to use a device for fun & balance that between interaction & real world experience. If not, they'll learn lessons through breaking their devices, losing grades because of distraction, etc.
It kind of bothers me to see little kids with iPhones & iPads. I love all these things but I didn't get them until I was past 10 & I'm actually really grateful for that. Real world experience & help helped through a lot of things an iPod could never have done.
