Looks play a part but it's not the determining factor. I wouldn't say it's unimportant to me, but it doesn't factor above details like a sense of humor, confidence, and open-midnedness.
They have to smell good too. I reckon that falls under 'superficiality' though.
I don't think I would classify myself as superficial, but looks are important. There needs to be a physical attraction, period. I tried for a long time to work it out with someone that I had a strong emotional connection and bond with, but there was absolutely no chemistry in the sack and it's the reason the relationship failed.
But physical attraction =/= gorgeous. It all depends on what you like. Sometimes, someone's personality makes them sexy - or not sexy.
To a certain extent. I don't think there is anything wrong with having standards and being selective but if you're not going to date someone just because if a particular hair color or eye color that they have or they don't have the perfect body but they are nowhere near being fat, then I think that's ridiculous.
